Lantern of Light is a faith-based suicide prevention ministry started in 2019, by Cynthia Halman and Kim Garro, under the direction, supervision and sponsorship of Word of Life Fellowship, in Mi Wuk Village, California. Our theme scripture is Isaiah 9:2 “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, on them has the light shined.”

Lantern of Light was started because of the belief that faith communities can and should help in the solution of suicide in our county. We are dedicated to help our community and our faith community receive trainings for suicide prevention. With an evidence based curriculum from LivingWorks, we help train people how to recognize that someone is having thoughts of suicide, how to get them the help they need, and how to do an intervention. Our goal, along with the State of California, is to reduce the number of suicides in Tuolumne County to zero by the year 2025.
