Aronos Research Club

Description

About:

The Aronos Research Club is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community since 1915. Over the years, the club has established dental clinics for school children, brought the first Kindergartens to Tuolumne
County, supported reforesting efforts in the Stanislaus National Forest, and
raised funds to create Columbia State Park.

Our club remains active in the community. We have given scholarships to Columbia College students since the campus came to Tuolumne County. We create Valentines Day Cards for homebound residents – including making some in Braille for the vision impaired. We host an annual Coffee with a Cop to bring neighbors together with our Sonora Police officers for conversations and to increase understanding.

Our newest program provides funds to elementary school teachers for needed school supplies.

We are known for providing a monthly speakers series that is open to the community. Topics have include Historic Buildings in Tuolumne County, the History of Industries in Tuolumne County, the study of individual countries like Costa Rica, Italy and China.

We coordinate with Building Bridges to host a series of debates on topical issues for the community to enjoy.

At 38 members our club does all we can for the community. We are proud of maintaining the historic Aronos Clubhouse and keeping it available for community members to use.
