Mother Lode Wildlife Care

Description

We are an all-volunteer non-profit public 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of injured/orphaned wildlife in Tuolumne and nearby counties, with special focus on birds and squirrels.  We are permitted with CA Fish & Wildlife and US Fish & Wildlife.  We are not government funded so rely on grants and donations from generous community donors.  Our volunteers have the facilities and approved training to ensure that wildlife in need receives the best possible care and has the greatest chance of being released back into the appropriate habitat, capable of surviving on its own.

Volunteer Tasks:

Our greatest need is for home care volunteers for songbirds, ducklings, quail, squirrels, and opossums. This is a commitment of 3 weeks to 3 months depending on the species, age and possible injuries. We provide the training, food and caging to prepare these animals for return to the wild, these are not pets.

Other volunteer opportunities include cage building, re-nesting/reuniting wildlife, computer/data input, answering phones and a few openings for volunteers for 4 hour shifts, one day each week, caring for birds of prey and animals in pre-release cages in Sonora.
