NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Tuolumne County
NAMI Tuolumne County is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nations largest grassroots mental health organization. Our mission is to support individuals living with mental illness and their families, to educate the general public about mental illness, and to fight the misconceptions and stigma surrounding mental illness. To that end, we offer educational classes for the general public, emergency responders, and in schools. We also offer support groups and socialization opportunities for both those living with an illness and their families. We do not offer therapy or case management. Our membership consists primarily of the above groups, along with some mental health professionals.
Volunteer Needs:
- Board members, particularly those with healthcare or mental health experience
- Computer work - webpage and social media page design and maintenance
- Drivers - for meetings and activities
High school age would be acceptable for computer work, but not as drivers or board members
