The mission of the Tuolumne County Department of Social Services is to provide appropriate services to individuals and families to enhance self-sufficiency. Such services include financial assistance, medical benefits, in-home care for the elderly and disabled, employment and training services, and protective services for children and adults. Tuolumne County Department of Social Services is a site partner to the AmeriCorps PATH program with The Child Abuse Prevention Center. The mission of AmeriCorps is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.

Volunteer Tasks:

AmeriCorps members in the PATH (prevent Abuse through Home Visitation) program will be trained in facilitating parenting education with families at risk for child abuse and neglect. Members will work closely alongside with families in the community and with the staff at the Tuolumne County Department of Social Services and Tuolumne County Child Welfare Services. The AmeriCorps home visitor is responsible for developing a relationship with the family and working in their home and community to build strengths and to enhance self-sufficiency.

Members conduct parenting education, home visiting, case management, recruiting members for the program, and maintain data entry and collection for the AmeriCorps PATH program in accordance to the Child Abuse Prevention Center.
