National Treasure Mustang Rescue and Sanctuary

Description

National Treasure Mustang Rescue and Sanctuary provides a safe home for once wild horses and burros which have been rounded up and removed from public lands by the Bureau of Land Management and United States Forest Service. We have rescues that were removed by the Nevada Department of Agriculture as well.

Each year government agencies remove thousands of wild horses and burros from herd management areas using helicopters and truck them to crowded holding facilities without shade or shelter. Some are adopted but far too many are being removed than an adoption demand can cover. Far too many are ending up at auctions where kill buyers buy them to ship over US borders to be slaughtered. Sanctuary is literally a lifesaver.

We provide food, veterinary and farrier care, gentling and training and lots of love. We give advice on how to adopt a wild horse or burro, requirements for approval of adoption application and all things you need to know about homing these amazing national treasures.

Volunteer Needs:

We have volunteer opportunities for horse and burro fans, including fence repair, building shelters, cleaning up our visitor areas, weed eating and help with fundraising projects. What talents do you have that you would like to share?
