Railtown 1897 State Historic Park

Mission:

Railtown 1897 SHP is looking for volunteers who enjoy working with the public and love sharing their enthusiasm for history and railroading with our visitors. Community members are encouraged to join this rewarding program that offers an opportunity to support the local state historic park while learning more about California’s rich history, meeting new people, and developing friendships with those who share similar interests.Prior experience with public service or trains is not required.

Volunteer Needs:

Volunteer may serve, upon qualification, in a wide variety of roles at Railtown including:
– Public contact (Greeters, Ticket Agents, Car Hosts, Tour Guides, etc.)
– Train operations (Engineer, Fireman, Brakeman, Fire Patrol)
– Maintenance and Restoration projects
– Hospitality
