American Red Cross
Description
Mission:
The American Red Cross stands ready to bring comfort, care, and hope to people facing some of life’s most difficult moments. Our local Red Cross team is made up of compassionate, local volunteers—neighbors helping neighbors—who answer the call to serve when it matters most. From responding to home fires in the middle of the night, to supporting families after large-scale disasters, to honoring and assisting members of the military community, to ensuring local blood drives run smoothly, our volunteers are the heart of our mission. And right now, we need more local heroes in Tuolumne County to get involved.
Volunteer Needs:
Red Cross volunteers typically serve in ongoing roles that support the mission of the entire team. Volunteer responsibilities may include:
- Setting up and operating disaster shelters when large‑scale emergencies require community evacuations
- Meeting with individuals in person or virtually to provide immediate support after a home fire
- Coordinating disaster response vehicles, equipment, and relief supplies
- Planning and coordinating response efforts with community partners
- Installing smoke alarms and educating on home fire prevention to prevent future tragedies
- Delivering disaster preparedness and safety education within the community
- Supporting administrative and leadership functions that keep operations running smoothly
- Greeting, assisting, and supporting donors at local blood drives
