Tuolumne River Trust
Description
We protect and restore the Tuolumne River watershed for present and future generations. We do this through three key program areas: education, advocacy, and restoration. Thanks to our environmental education programs, youth across the watershed learn where their water comes from and much more. We’ve taught tens of thousands of students about the forests, fish, and fun they can have on and off the river. Through our education programs, we are investing in the river stewards of the future. Grassroots action is how it all began at TRT. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the community of advocates who continue to show up to public meetings and hearings, share their stories and needs, and fight for the ecosystems, communities, and economies of the watershed. Using a watershed-wide approach, we take on ambitious landscape-scale restoration projects to restore the entire landscape back to health. From the headwater forests in the Sierra Nevada mountains, to the parks and floodplains of the Central Valley, to the flows that course through the San Francisco Bay, we know that restoring one section of the river improves the health of the entire watershed. For over 40 years, we have continued this decades-long legacy of restoring and protecting this irreplaceable watershed that spans from the Sierra Nevada Mountains through the Central Valley to the San Francisco Bay.
